Eugene, Oregon Upholds Ban on Reciting Pledge of Allegiance


City council members in Eugene, Oregon were supposed to say the Pledge of Allegiance before every city council meeting, but the act has proved divisive and controversial. Monday night, the council voted against saying the pledge at all meetings but approved a compromise that will allow it at 4 meetings a year -- those close to Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the 4th of July.
